Choosing the right venue for your event is a key factor in its success. It is never something that should be rushed into, it serves you well to consider many options and all suitable possibilities so that you can find the right one for your event.
When I am choosing a suitable venue for my clients I consider the following points:
One of the first things questions I ask myself is "is the venue suitable for the audience?" Will your guests feel comfortable there or will the venue make them feel out of place?
The venue's style needs to compliment your client and/or their event. Delegates surroundings are known have an affect on your audiences attention and productivity - get it right and your audience will benefit more
This might be an obvious one but I've seen it in the past where the most fabulous venue is booked but the location is a nightmare. Think about your audience again, where they will be coming from, how will they be getting there?
Ensure that your venue can deliver on the technology front. Ask about the AV capabilities. Is there wifi and is it included?
What can your venue offer in terms of catering? Is there a choice of options or suppliers or can you bring in your own catering company. Poor food has a massive effect on you guests overall experience...and will be one of the first things they talk about to their friends/colleagues
Another obvious one but does it fit within your budget? Don't ever blow your budget on the most fabulous venue if you can't match it's standard when it comes to the catering, entertainment and content.
When researching the venue find out from their team what's included in the hire. Never be afraid to ask if they can include any extras. You might think its cheeky but you would be amazed what you can get included in the price if you just ask.
This list could go on and on and will change for every different type event that you want to host, however, if you at least think about all of the above items when choosing your venue for your next event then you will save yourself a lot of time...and stress...later on down the line.
If you have any considerations that you think about when choosing a venue I would live to hear about them. Share your thoughts in the comments below.
